Please Help 5 Fish Deaths In 24 Hrs :(

All you can do it water changes and increase aeration.
If you don't sort your stocking out you will lose them all.

OP you do need to be told to get rid of certain fish if they're not suited to your tank. Start by taking your cichlids and the other cichlid in to the lfs. It may be your fave and they are lovely but believe me it doesn't belong in your community tank.

What type of gourami is it?

Thankyou crazychris for not snapping orders to get rid of my fish at me!

90 cm long, 60 cm high and 40 cm deep (did that make any sence?)

I know they are non-community fish, but all the fish in my aquarium (apart from th mollies) are semi agressive fish (yellow sticker in LFS) and are compatible, as i have stated before they all 'got along well' in my tank (no nipped fins or bullying - just the plants get nipped alot!)

xx

Agree with the above. You've a 3ft tank then. The cichlids should go back to the shop. Do you know what cichlids they are?

We have told you to rehome them for the benefit of the fish.

The LFS are aware of the fish I keep, I always show them the fish I already have BEFORE purchasing any more. Can anyone answer me one simple question without patronising me or telling me to take my fish back....

Why were all the levels fine and all fish healthy and happy before the move and are not after I cleaned and moved the tank?

Note: The fish that are still alive have all resumed their normal habits and positions in my tank now, nitrite levels are dropping with water changes.

start by having a read thru the forum, and getting to know about cycling.. this in turn will teach you about the process of fish waste ( ammonia) turning into the much less harmfull nitrates.. this is a must to learn if you are going to have any success with your fish at all.
then buy your OWN testing kit ( API freshwater master kit) do regular tests ( daily even multiple daily tests in the current situation) and return the fish that you have been advised to return
its no good joining a forum and ignoring the advice, we dont stand to gain anything from you by advising you, tho the LFS does (£££)
and you can defend them till the cows come home, but fact is they are NOT a good LFS,

it actually looks like you are "fishsitting" they tell you what and how long you can keep it,and you take it home feed it for a while and it dies or gets returned for a smaller version.. hardly what other members on here would call " fishkeeping"

were here to help, but only if you want us too.

did you clean the filter good and thoughly under running tap water?

Dont all go mad at me for not knowing the exact species of each of my fish but is the description of this fish a cichlid...

Bright yellow body, black stripe on fin at top... about an inch in length.

Is that a cichlid?

no one is going mad at you :)
its the fish shop we are mad with.. wish they would realise that in the long run they would make a lot more money if they actually gave good advice

lets start over. ok your obviously over stocked... not your fault tho..
tell us how you cleaned the tank exactly what you did
you muct accept that a lot of the fish will need to be returned, or changes are they will die either cos your filter cant cope with the load or they will kill echother

have you changed the water today?? if not i recommend that you do a 50% chnage adding back declorinated water of similar temp
we`ll have you on track in no time... smile and dont get stressed.. it wont help :) :) - you can take that from one who knows

your fsh sounds like a yellow lab

I cleaned the filter with the water from the tank before i took it out, im not that ignorant to clean it with tap water lol...

Im 20, i like fish, i like how pretty some of them are and watching their habits and making the tank beautiful... im not really a fish'keeper' as such. I love the little guys but not so much that I wouldnt swap one that got big for a smaller version at the LFS.

A 12 gallon tank is only a beginners tank and there not that many fish you can keep in them.
Even tigar barbs really need to be in a bigger tank.
There only good for small community fish like small tetra's, livebearers, corys, etc.

So is it me being naieve and calling a lab a cichild or are they the same thing? gosh im so confused.

Whats so wrong with keeping fish when they are small and then returning them?

a lab is a type of african cichlid

fish keeping isnt about buying fish taking them back and getting new ones, its about getting a species suitable for your tank to begin with that you like.
