Please Help 5 Fish Deaths In 24 Hrs :(

ok well youve done the right thing ( washing the filter in tank water).. we all have our own veiws on our fish spose, nothing wrong with that..

can you possibly put a pic up of the tank?
what may have happened is that the levels have got too high and its just been too late to do anything about, ideally when a tank is established, the water needs to be tested on a weekly basis.. they have even told you that a bad reading is a good one,so may have been doing this on previous tests too :(, so any chance you can get your own kit? they last for 800 tests and its money well invested if it catches a problem early enough to fix it

12 gallons...?? my tank is bigger than 12 gallon. its a somthing 125 .. which is bigger than 12 gallons.

You said 60 litres in your first post.
I had a juwel rekord 60 when I first kept fish and that was a 12 gallon. I had a good lfs who suggested fish for that tank size, and if they were conpatiable.

Yeh I intend to get my own testing kit this week as weekly trips to swallows takes a toll on my petrol as its about a 30 min drive from my house. There are nearer fish shops but they really are naff... pets at home for instance. and aquapets who sold my friend a pufferfish for £100 knowingly for a FRESH water aquarium (poor little guy lasted less than a day)

I cant find my camera lead to connect it to the computer but i think its on the swallows website so il try and find it on there and send a link?

Thankyou by the way... your advice is appreciated. Swallows obviously isnt as great as I thought it was.

your more than welcome.. when you know the basics of the hobby.. testing, different and compatible species, you will soon be able to tell the good ones from the bad ones, not all LFS are bad,but it helps if you know some of your stuff :) and its a sastisfying feeling when you know you havent been fobbed off :)

With having all the fish in the tank I would do a gravel vac twice a week with having the plecs also. Water changes daily, might need to do three water changes aday till you rehome some fish.
I would buy the api master test kit it has ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph. The nitrate test kits not that accurate by api the tetra liquid test kit for nitrate good.
Don't buy test strip cards as they are not accurate.

My aquarium is a Juwel 125. When i say water changes I do use the gravel hoover thing to hoover the gravel and remove 25 % water at the same time, I do this weekly.

I want to keep my pleco, yellow lab and barbs. I only got the mollies as hardy fish when cycling my tank initially so am not too bothered about taking them back. The two little white ones and the same as them blue one are really tiny and pretty and would like to keep them too! the others I could take back, but up until now everything has been fine and its hard for me to give them up and not replacing them :(

well those dimensions are wrong then, theyre 80cm*36cm*50

some puffer fish species are freshwater

This puffer was not freshwater and I suspect they knew that when selling it to her. He was one with bright blue eyes, ive seen similar in swallows in the marine section.

do you know the exact species? how old was it? as some species begin freshwater and slowly move into marine

Literally, she got it from aquapets and it was in the marine tank and they sed it can go in freshwater aswell. I dno wat species it was, and it was very small so young i think.

Is that 125 litres. If so about 30 gallons without working it out in real detail.
