Playing With Stocking Ideas

I have bought a 4ft bowfront tank with the following dimensions:
L: 119cm
H: 50cm (that's including substrate)
W: 31.5cm

Filter: Aqua One Aquis 1200 canister

Now, ##150### is telling me I will be 106% full with satisfactory filtration with the following:
2 Angels
5 Khuli loaches
1 Pictus
6 Panda Corys
5 Glass Catfish
5 Emporer Tetras
2 GBR

But would everyone get along? I don't even know if I can get a hold of Emperor Tetras (and at the moment Pandas are far and few between).

2 Angels - I want 4-6 ft tank for them, from experience, and two will probably fight unless you get a proven pair.. I also prefer to have a 60 cm tall aquarium
5 Khuli loaches - I think they should be kept in groups of 10+, 6 is a bare minimum
1 Pictus - I'd pass and I would want at least a 4 ft tank
6 Panda Corys - more is better
5 Glass Catfish - more is better, they do not do well in groups smaller than 10
5 Emporer Tetras - more! more again! they really do live in groups of 100s and 1000s in the wild
2 GBR - nothing German about them, unless you're having them shipped over from here some people say they can only be kept at high temperatures, but I have had success at 25 C

So, I would revise that stocking like this:
* 10-15 panda Corys
* 10-15 emperor tetras (be sure to get the true, not aggressive species of the two)
* 2m 2f blue rams

or:
* 10-15 khuli loaches
* 10-15 glass catfish
* group of peaceful gouramis or Bettas

Just to add, ##150### is poor and I wouldn't recommend using it.

Good to know, thanks. Someone had recommended it to a member in a thread and I thought I'd check it out. I actually had fun using it

So, basically some of the stocking list can't be changed. I already have one Angel, 4 Khuli's, the Pictus and the GBR (among many others however these were the ones I would be putting in the 4ft). I love corys and would love to have them in there as well. I have 4peppereds in another tank but they are long/high fins and are ridiculously hard to find around here.

So any suggestions going by what I've just told you? If GBR need higher numbers I will take them back to the lfs as they've caused me enough headaches

Just to add, a sand substrate is essential for Rams.

The Pictus will eat any tetras you put in there

Saw a sub adult pictus eat a huge fully grown platy! I thought it was going to die, it didnt eat a thing for over 5 weeks! If they will eat platies, they will deffo eat tetras. TBH i wouldnt have trusted my pictus with Blue Rams either!

No small tetras for you, probably the same for glass fish as well, panda corys are small but a fish would have to be epic stupid to eat a cory, only fish i've seen try was an oscar but thats hardly surprising... they just arent clever.

Oh oops! I better take the word out of my top post then, didn't realise we couldn't mention it. I thought it was helpful as I only have 4 Khuli's and it made a note I needed atleast 5 so I was happy about that.

My pictus doesn't seem to eat everything (I have heard they have a bad reputation for this). He lives with my Khuli's and has never had a munch on them (yet). He also lives with my GBRs and apart from chasing them away from his hidey spot, he leaves everyone alone. My GBRs actually gave him hell when they last had their eggs! He gets fed pretty well so I'm not sure if that'd have something to do with it?

Okay, the list of ALL my fish in ALL tanks is:
1x male Coral Blue Dwarf Gourami
15x Neon Tetras
4x Peppered corys (will be raising this number to 6 once I find two more high/long fins)
1x Angel
4x Khuli Loaches
1x Pictus
2x GBR (male and female)

I know neons with Angel is a bad choice once he reaches maturity. My GBRs and Dwarf Gourami HATE each other...maybe in a larger tank they'd be okay with more room but I mean these guys really hate each other. So let me know out of these what would work together and any additives...additives would be great

… at 25C, on sand, with bogwood and plants (inc. floaters) should work.

Personally, I would only put angels in a 4ft tank or larger and I would not keep a single specimen as I found them to be very social fish. What you do, is up to you, but I will not recommend something I would not do.

Also, angels may eat neons for breakfast, once they grow up… apparently neons make up part on angels' natural diet, in the wild.
