Platy + Gold Barb

About a week ago i saw my gold barb mating with a female yellow platie. The male gold barb was and still is chasing it around smelling its bottom and going around it like a loopy whats going on? or or ?

You may have seen the barb chasing the platy but you wouldnt have seen them mating thats for sure!

A gold barb is an egg layer. I have never sen one of those confused enough to try to mate with a platy.
