Hi
I have had my Biorb running since Oct, and with many lessons learnt along the way we have finally got it perfect. My questions is about my real plants on one of the plants i have left some of the wool on it as I cannot get the plants to stay under the rock, but after reading posts on here looks like i have done the wrong thing. My problem is I cannot get both of my hands inside the tank to place the roots under the rocks, as the top pf the Biorb is quite small, so i am doing this with one hand. Do i need to get all of the wool off? and How can i get the plants to stay at the bottom.

Thanks

It may not matter much depending on the amount left on.. but I'd just take the plant out to a well-lighted counter and slowly and gently pick away the wool from the roots using tweezers if necessary, shouldn't be too hard I wouldn't think, once you make a project out of it, lol. Its also good practice to snip a tiny bit of root tip off whenever your plant/re-plant as this will stimulate root growth (just use scissors.)

One handed planting, while awkward, shouldn't be too hard if you just keep trying at it. Just keep the crown of the plant gently but firmly clamped by thumb and one or two fingers while creating the hole with the other fingers. Trying to spread the roots around the hole is probably the hardest bit. Plant it too deep on purpose and then after you've brought substrate all around it you can slowly and gently pull it upright until the crown is just barely above the substrate so that the roots are the only part in the substrate. One frustrating thing is that after all that you may find that the leaf orientation is not what you want for your aquascape look and you may have to do it all again to rotate it the way you want. You just have to be patient and repeat!
