Hi Amy
I am trying my hardest to keep plants with my discus. I;ve just started adding ferts in an attempt to make them grow

The only plants that are doing well is giant vallis and a hygrophilia
the amazon swords, vallis and echinidora are struggling. Oh I forgot the crypts are doing ok as well

Okay thanks, i was thinking of getting some swords + vallis

Might put them in my smaller 60l tank for a little while to let them grow a bit before they go in with the discus

Crypts, swords, Anubias and a few others, check Tropica they show you the temp ratings for the plants.

This should be of some use...

http://www.tropica.com/plants/specific-purposes-/discus.aspx

Theres a few popular ones on there such as microsorum pteropus (aka java fern), various anubias, (vallis, crypts and swords as Simon mentioned too) even the crinum's might be suitable which are bulb plants. If you check their requirements and check it with your lighting you should be able to do well.

I'd keep the lighting on for about 6-7 hours... i imagine nutrients might be useful, i would ask about that in the planted forum though. Tropica plant nutrition plus is what I use if you are looking for a decent all rounder :good:

It depends if you ate going set the tank up for plants. Discus are not plant eaters really.

I find sword plants to work well but really it all depends on your set up.
