okay hope this is not to wired, are there any plants other than bulb plants, that are coloured differently to Red or Green? i have enough green in my tank and would like some more colour, i guess, i like red plants but for some reason they don't like me back.

and that leads me to my other question, why are my red plants not growing? i have high light, co2, lots of fert's very confusing to me my green plants a flourishing, yet my red plants are not doing to good,

Alternanthera sessilis
Echinodorus hormanii - red

these are my two red plants i am talking about, anyone had any experience with these,

any clues please let me know, i plan to get more reddish plants in the future maybe its just these types

and to note i have a red(Purple) crypt that is thriving in my tank

Is your crypt a Cryptocoryne wendtii "bronze"? That's the only one I can think of off the top of my head that's not really red or green.

yes it is like a purple colour and its coloured very nicely, i have bought some more red plants 4 pots worth so i shall give them ago as well. but iron is interesting, could that be a deficiency but would that not show on my other plants?

Red plant need a lot more nutrients and lit than green plants. I have a really nice red silk plant that looks good amongs the greens. If you look hard enough you could find purple too I'm guessing..

hmm okay that makes sense, i have Huge amounts of light so i wouldn't have through that is a problem 90W of LED through 30x3W LED bulbs custom build, my greens are loving the new light and are growing at extremely quick pace, my cabomba is growing between 1 ft to 2 ft a week

i guess it could be nutrient's i am over dosing my ferts it says for my 330L tank i dose 33ml, but i am putting in 50ml, maybe i add another 25ml

i use 25ml bottles to help me add ferts so il go up in 25's if that makes sense, only thing is i don't know exactly what my ferts has in it, its AE neutro+ for tanks with co2 so i guess it has macro and micro nutrients but not 100%

i have bought 4 more pots of red plants maybe they will help me

EDIT: forgot to mention, i do have purple plants in my tank some Crypts and have coloured very nicely

Sorry Zikofski but all of my plants are strictly low tech. But your light spectrum might be the culprit for your failing red plants, while the greens are thriving because your current spectrum agrees with their requirments.

I know you said no more green plants, but I have a lovely little varigated anubis, the white on its leaves is very striking and makes good contrast to the usual greens of a tank

And just to wet your appetite for what plants will be available to you once out here check out this.

but yes white plants are cool, don't understand as my colour spectrum is white the same as the sun

so the plants in theory should se no difference in terms of colour spectrum?

im back home on tuesday, i shall get some pictures they may have grown since then, but. from what i remember the leafs looks shrivelled up as if dried out, yet under water but the leafs where covered in algae so this may be the culprit but i would have through i see new growth by now
