Placement Of Hob Filter

Where should you mount a HOB filter? Seems that in the middle might be a little better in terms of the intake. I have an Aquaclear 50 on a 20 gal. high.

couldnt actually say but about 2years ago my sister brought a second hand tank with a hob and it was on the back in middle of tank
hang on back<hob>and its always been there up to this day works perfectly

A filter will circulate all the water in your tank eventually no matter where it's placed.

I think placement is for visual purpose.

My overhead trickle filter takes it out one end and dumps it back at the other so as an internal sucks it up from the bottom then shoots it out the top then I would suggest at one end of you tank is best spot
