It's a female, around 4.5 to 5" now, had her since 11th September 2008 at 3" sorry my phone camera is bad, she has a more greenish tint to her in the right light, similar to Manueli I think :)

Quick Video aswell :)

there are some in my LFS at the moment a little larger than yo usallu see for sale and I;m tempted even though i don;t have spare tank

lovely looking fish, can you keep many in a tank or is that just an impossible ask with these fish

Depends on the species and size of the of the tank they'd be going into. Most seem to be either a groups of 5+ or solitary

I assume were talking tank bred red's? 4 can be kept in a 75 us gallon tank for life, then its roughly 20 gallons for each extra fish. You need minimum 4 to spread out aggression or ideally 6 or more. any less than 4 are likely to fight until one is dead, can keep one on its own but a tank bred red is likely to be very shy. If you want just one piranha have a look at serrasalmus species, their solitary and have cracking character!

hehe that's one club i cannot join, shame as there beautiful fish, a huge tank of red bellie's is an awsome sight

Sure is mate, dunno how much you know about piranhas but a shoal of big piraya is an awesome sight

The general consensus with pristobrycon species is that females have a straight anal fin where as males have a circular cut out mid way down the fin.
