We've had our eclectic little tank going for over a year now - hope you enjoy!

Lovely tank.
I hate to be a tick but your tank is set up for disaster. Right now your tank may be fine. But those Black Ghost I would suggest removing. Also Bala sharks WILL outgrow that tank unless stunted which will happen if you keep them in your tank. That goldfish is coldwater and the majority of your fish are warm water. And those 4 chinese algae eaters will get very aggressive when they reach their adult size. Most stories I read say just 1 is really bad. And Red Belly Pacus get big. Really big. Not sure about the shovel nose though.
But other wise your tank is really nice. :good:

I know it's more than a bit mixed but we've had very good luck with our setups for quite awhile now. I know Jinxy (the goldfish) is sorely out of place but she is the sentimental favourite of my wife and kids (she's survived from previous tanks) so I'm stuck with her until she moves on.

The pacu was a rescue from a moving neighbor and I well know he's growing fast (those boys can eat!) but he's due for a new home before Thanksgiving so we're all good there. The algae eaters are on the same schedule as the pacu - we usually hold onto them until they get too bossy and then we take them to a LFS for credit.

The BGK's have been rockin' for over a year though so unless we see some unsocial behaviour from 'em I'll keep them in (watching them hunt when the moonlight comes on in the tank is fascinating). As far as the sharks go, we're playing them by ear for now. I know they'll eventually get too big but with us removing some of the others in the near future they should be ok for a bit yet.

No worries on your comments - they are much appreciated! I know we have a strange setup but for whatever reason it all has synched up nicely and we've been stable for a long time. This forum is a great resource though so when we look to go bigger and better will check back here as well. :)

Thanks again for taking the time to post!

:good: Glad to know that you know what your doing then. But the Black Ghost's will also get big. Some say one is enough for a 55 gallon, and others say a 55 is to small for one. 2 may be more of a problem later on.

Thanks for the heads-up - we'll definitely keep a close watch on them once they start growing more. So far no worries but they're still babies :) so I'm looking forward to seeing how it goes. so far they're doing well, each has found a favourite hidey-hole on either end of the tank and in the evenings they do their figure-eight swimming together 'dance' (for lack of a better way to describe). They're turning into one of my favourites to watch.

Not bad at all. Id be seriously considering rehoming that Pacu before it gets to the size no one will take it. They tbh are a fish that shouldn't be in the trade as its unusual to find anyone capable of homing one properly. Even local Aquaria are stopping taking them as they are a serious tank buster fish.

Thanks for the advice and after hearing from many on this Forum as well as just general research I think the pacu Thanksgiving re-home is going to be moved up quite a bit. :) Even now while he's still small that boy can sure carve a swath of destruction from one end of the tank to the other - wow. Once he finds a new home we'll be in a lot better shape for a bit.

Thanks again!

Quick update - I decided not to wait and the pacu was re-homed as of this morning. :good:

He wasn't too happy about leaving but all good now!

your tank looks great, love your pics
its good that you can come here and take the time to listen what people have to say - so many people ask for opinions and then argue back if something is pointed out! its great that you are taking in what is said

Just be glad you have done it now, rather than when he is 600kg in weight lol

Thank you very much! I'm not sure why anyone would ask for some input and then argue it all back - that seems pretty silly - but I appreciate all the input and info here. With all of the Forum members who have joined here, there aren't very many situations someone here hasn't dealt with before so it only makes sense to take their experiences into account and save some headaches! :good:
