The one with the white leaves, definitely - I had one, and it lasted about three months before it started going downhill - lost the green and started becoming an algae magnet. I just tossed it out a couple weeks ago and replaced it with an argentine sword. The grass, though, if we're talking about the same plants, I think is entirely fine. I have a considerable amount of the stuff, and have had most of it for 5-6 months, it was sold as some type of saggitaria.

yes Corleone i had brought another one of the white edged plants the other day ( before he had commented) so they have both been taken out along wiith the grass (which was browning up as was the white edged plant)

so now regarding plants i'll buy some froom maidenhead or the water zoo as place they all know what they are talking about (unlike my local store) lol

but now i have another problem....... :grr: i brought 2 Bolivian rams on thursday from the water zoo..... i was told their sex is hard to tell, but i would soon know !! from their behaviour....
well i THINK i have 2 males... as today they started picking at each other...well one starts it.... not on any other fish.... just between themselves...now what should i do?.... is this a normal thing? will it stop? ...
or do i have to ask to return one and hope i get a female?..... will try and put picture here to see if anyone can tell what i have ( its hard to get a clear one so i will keep trying ok)

here goes......

Real nice tank their what special care do you give to the plants?

hi, thank you keenonfish,

think the fact i run my sun lights from morning till 9pm helps them grow healthy and the fact i keep a close check on the water quality
other than that not much more care given to plants oh apart from pruning/trimmimg.

Can't tell the rams from the pictures. The way I've always learned to tell with rams and apistos is that the male will have a "mohawk" of extended rays at the front edge of his dorsal fin. I've heard of long finned rams having this feature in females as well, however.

took a couple more bit closer clearer maybe.....

as got these from same shop molleis .... platies came from....
thanks guys

looks like a synondontis catfish, not sure which specie though.

well thats kool, as thought that.... now need species as that is main question really thanks though.... any idea regarding the rams lol

Those synos look like they might be featherfins (S. eupterus). Post in the "Other catfish" subforum of the catfish section for a better ID. If I'm right, I'd be worried of them posing a threat to some of your smaller fish eventually.

ive now been told Corleone that it is an ADULT Synodontis nigrita ........ GRR !! i was actually sold this cat last week as a young black spotted upside down catfish ... yet once home and observed them playing i researched them and could not match them to what i had been told they were...

that ruddy lfs is doing my headin....
first mollys that are not mollys
plants that are not even for quariums
and now these two beautys.......and told me my other little fish would of died of old age before the cats got old enough to want them for lunch.... (pulling my hair out here)
