i have narrowed my final stocking list down to these 2 choices. Had to change my last one as after a lot of research on kissing gouramis i realised they weren't for me and had some problems with the harlequins i wanted.
I am stocking my 55gal, i have no fish in there at the moment and i am still decorating it.
I have 2 german blue rams from the lists below in my quarentine tank at the moment waiting to go in but i want help picking a large fish, in the region of 5 - 8 inches as a centerpiece.

I am more drawn towards the second stocking theme but wanted opinions so which stocking scheme would you choose and what centerpiece fish (5 - 8 inches) would you put with them

1st
1 red finned shark
1 medusa plec
2 german blue rams
10 black widdow tetras

2nd
2 bristlenose plecs
2 german blue rams
5 polka-dot loaches
8 bosemani rainbows

sorry for the long post and thanks in advance for any replies.

id personaly go with the 2nd option.

having seen the red fin in action in my sisters tank a few years back, id never ever ever buy them unless they were with something:

1) intially bigger than them
2) grow to be around 133% or more their size.

otherwise, these guys can terrorise your tank to death unless it is suitably divided by ornaments etc. as it s a 55gal and you may get it having luck with its own space.

just my opinion though.

I would go with the second setup, but there is one thing that I would change, personally. I would switch out the bristlenoses and get the medusa pleco, but that's just me. :)
