I noticed a couple days ago one of my cardinals had a clear lump on its back. All the others are fine.

Now, 4 days on, it has turned pink! Strangely the same colour as the food i gave. But still, its not looking any better! All the others still look fine.

Suggestions as to what it is? cures?

Fungal infections are contagious yes. Alot of people would suggest moving him but in the state he looks already, and how long you said he has had it, it is most likely he has already started spreading it to the other fish

IMO moving a sick fish never helps them anyway, in most cases the stress of it being on its own (especially shoaling fish) along with the illness can kill it off pretty fast.

I would recommend getting a Fungal Medication asap and start treating the whole tank based on the instrustions and i wouldnt move this fella imo

However if he dies then you must get the body out immediately, the other fish in 80% of cases will start to feed on the corpse which will result in them getting the infection too, quicker than normal (especially if you have bottom feeders like loaches or cory but plecs are usually the worse)

Before you treat the tank thought make sure you dont have any 'sensitive to medication' fish

Who are his tankmates?

Yeh i figured it would have spread now, so not much point moving him.

I have really good medicine for it, but obviously didnt want to treat fish that were fine I know this can stress them!

He lives with corys and rams....so they are all fine.

I'll start treating tonight and fingers crossed!
