wat is high range ph and ph mean???????

on mine its says ph is 6.0

on the high range ph is 7.4

High range measures from 7.4 to 8.6 or so and normal PH 6-7.6

It just depends on your PH, do the normal test and if it is the highest result then use the high range and see what that one says.

Hello Seanec sounds like you got a bit of confusion there I take it your testing your water with a test kit what make/name are you using?

I use the Api master fresh water test kit that has the option to test high PH and PH I have found that with my local water that is HIGH around 8.0 so I do not use the PH testing as it always MAX's out so I use the HIGH PH test to give me a reading.
I do hope this helps you

fresh water master test kit

ive tested water on the low ph and it says its 6.0, ive done on the high its says 7.4. so with 1 do i use?

i also use api ph 7.0 bt i think its took it dwn to much even tho it says ph 7.0

The high range is reading 7.4 because that is the lowest number it can show. The normal range is showing 6.0, again it is the lowest that it can show. Your pH may well be below 6.0 but is nowhere near 7.4. I hope this makes some sense.

ive just put the ph 7.0 in to it waited then tested again its gone up by 0.2 on both

Ph 7 as in a ph adjuster? Don't use it, it won't give you accurate readings and it is a waste of time. It will only flucuate which is bad. Is some coral sand in the filter to raise the ph

I take it that you used a pH buffer solution. Those can work if you are willing to use a big enough dose. If you truly want to increase your pH and hold it at a higher level, it is cheaper and easier to put some crushed shell or crushed coral, really any kind of calcium carbonate, into the flow path of your filter. I have a link in my signature area called pH Problems that will take you to a useful writeup on fixing a pH lower than you want.

its says API BUFFER, WATER CONDITIONER.

AUTOMATICALLY SETS PH TO 7.0

ADD 1 SCOOP FOR EVERY 38L

MINE IS 190L

BUT I ONLY PUT 2 SCOOPS IN

IM USING THE EX700 FILTER

Don't use it, it's a waste of money, place a handful of coral sand In a filter sock and pit it on your filter.

WHERE DO I GET coral sand FROM AND WAT DO U MEAN A FILTER SOCK

I GT IT WITH TANK N THE MAN AT THE SHOP SAID HE USES IT N IT WORKS FOR HIM

Coral sand from your Lfs or you could use barnacle shells, he said that he uses it to make you buy it, I hihly doubt he does actually use it, it will cause your ph to fluctuate unless your really scrupious when dosing, and you're going to have to buy more bottles. Whereas the coral sand solutionsaves time effor and money. A filter sock is a little bag in which you can put media, you could use a tight if you wished.

WHEN I GOT THE TANK N SET IT UP THE PH WAS 7.0 BUT NOW ITS DROP SO IM TRYING TO GET IT BK TO 7.0 OR BIT HIGHTER.

WERE I LIVE ITS HARD WATER!!!

IF I DO A WATER CHANGE WILL THAT TAKE THE PH AWAY?

ALL MY FISH ARE HAPPY BUT NEED TO GET THE PH BK

WERE CAN I GET ALL THT STUFF FROM?

IVE GT EX700 FILTER WAT SHUD I DO WITH THAT?

PLUS MY TANK AS GONE DULL ITS ONLY BEEN UP AND RUNNING 4 3WEEKS OR SO!!!

WHAT SHUD I DO??

Are you cycling? If so then yes a water change will improve things. When a tank is cycling nitric acid is produced and lowers the ph if it has a low buffeting capacity, water changes will bring this back up, but I believe you can add calcium carbonate ( bicarbonate of soda) which I hope oldman47 can come along and give you the recommended dose, I believe it is 1 TSP per 10gallons but don't try it because I'm not definitely sure. Wait for oldman 47 to clarify the corect dose.
