Ph Help

Hi, i did a PH test last night after a water change (30%) and my PH is reading 7.6

I currently have cardinal tetras and a plec, however i will be puitting in some GBR's tomorrow.

Is this reading ok or should it be a bit lower, if lower how would i go about reducing it?

Current fish seem to be happy and well.

Your pH isn't really that important; even for rams. What is vital is warm, really, really clean water; nitrates should really be less than 30ppm and your temp should be around 27°C/80°.
Never any trace of ammonia or nitrite, of course!

Some bogwood and plenty of plants might help reduce your pH slightly, plus it'll make the rams feel at home

I was worried as i read stories of PH shock.. lol

I am putting a new plant in tonight, and doing a clean. My nitrate is at 20ppm at present but hopefully go down after a clean and addition of another plant.

My water is at a steady 28.5degrees

I have bog wood already and some rock for them to hide in etc..

Hopefully be a nice home for them, im quite anal when it comes to cleaning so always a nice enviroment for them!

Sounds fine; pH shock is unlikely, as the shop's water probably won't be much different to yours; you could ask when you get them what their pH is and if it's more than 0.5 away from yours, you could take a bit longer to aclimitise them, just to be safe.

Yes im going make sure i take my time aclimatising them, im getting 5 in total about 2cm big and mixed sex so want it all perfect for them!
