I went to the local PETSMART today and I'm looking in the tank section (of course ;) ) and half of all the 10 gallons are cracked! They need to take better care of how they handle their tanks! :grr: I'm getting my tank from a better fish shop that is a store for fish only. My friend said they take better care of the fish too. :)

..And this is what happens when they hire people who have absolutely no clue what they're doing. Like the lady who told my housemate she could keep a yellow lab cichlid in a 2.5 gallon tank.
My housemate knows nothing about fish, so she believed her. I had to talk her out of it.

I wish I had a store that only did fish but I have none anywhere near me.. I have petsmart, petco and Pet Plus (which is probally the cleanest and they seem to take better care of their fish). Everytime I go into petsmart there always seems to be dead fish in the tanks. I never buy fish there.

our pet smart is actually very good. rarely see dead fish and most of the employees seem to know what they are talking about. now pets plus is a different story. i couldn't even see the fish in half their tanks last time i was in there.

People in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. You're keeping a siamese fighter in a pint bowl, for crying out loud! Just because they can hack it doesn't mean they should have to.

...so stop going there and spending money. Sheesh.

You talkin to me?

Exactly. I am so sick of hearing about peoples bad lfs experiences, because every time they think its something new. Its not. Deal with it. Buy from somewhere better.

The petsmart near me the plants look fine so I think it may just be the fish that aren't as good.. At least at the one near me.

I bought my old 10g at a fish store and it leaked.

I know it's not NEW so EXCUSE MOI I was bored and willing to share the bad news to go with my bad day. :shifty:

The betta in the 1pt bowl [and I actually think it's bigger than that, to be honest.. I'm just terribly confused with measurements as I live in Canada and I'm right near the border so I get both metric and imperial.. it holds almost 4 cups of water.] is a female, and she's in there as a temporary setup. As I stated in another thread, she was a surprise random present from my mother when we were out shopping, and that bowl was the only thing I've got that I could put her in, short of a cup. She's going into my 5 gallon once the guppies are gone after Christmas, so relax. Her home is a temporary setup, whereas my housemate was led to believe she could put one [or even more if she wanted to] cichlid in the 2.5 gallon as a permanent setup.

Good lord, if you're here to pick on the way I keep my fish... isn't this supposed to be a friendly forum? For your information, since you seem so keen on attacking my [as previously stated] temporary setup, Tinkerbell is more than happy in that bowl. I had her in a larger one for a while [before it became a home for one of my boys] and she was so lethargic and she refused to eat. Once she went into the smaller bowl, she was much more active, more brightly coloured, and started eating again. Each betta has their own personality, and mine happens to like her smaller bowl.

If ~FairyAngelFish~ choses to complain about Petsmart, that's her choice. If you're sick of reading it, then don't click on the damned topic! You're the one who chose to read the thread, and therefore you subjected yourself to her complaints. If you're sick of it, don't read it. It's that simple.

there petco and petsmarts around me are all great! the ones you guys goto must be owned by *******.

having worked at a petsmart, cracked tanks cannot be blamed (well maybe partially can be) but the actual cracking can't be blamed on the pet store, we got in many tanks right off the truck that were cracked, so really it's just hard to ship tanks and things like that happen, now it was the employees fault that the cracked tanks made it to the floor as they should have been damaged out and thrown away, but I don't see how a cracked tank can determine if a store is bad or not...
