Perhaps An Odd Question?

About two weeks ago I planted my aquarium. I was getting readings before my weekly water changes of Amm: 0, Nitrite: 0, Nitrate: 5 ppm. One week ago, the nitrates jumped a little to 7 ppm. Now, all remains the same but the nitrates have dropped to 0 ppm. I know too many nitrates are just as bad as anything else but is having none a concern at all or just perfectly fine?

There is no problem not having any nitrates except for the plant's health. I find that my high tech tanks require an addition of nitrates to keep the plants healthy. The fish waste is just not enough to keep those plants fed their nitrogen.

Since I'm low tech I assume I should be ok then? If nitrogen is needed what do you dose?
