Alright so I have a group of platies in a breeder box that are big enough to be in the tank but my only problem is the filter. The intake tube has a strong suction and then I'm worried the fry aren't big enough to pull away on their own so they would get stuck to the tube and have no strength and die. Does anyone else have a Penguin Power filter Model 100? It's used for ten gallon tanks. Any advice on what I can do?

can you put stockings over it or anything?? or even make a sponge filter or 2? i lost a few of my fry in the filter and was gutted so good luck :)

Sorry but whats a sponge filter? and I think the stockings still wouldn't change the pressure.

if you're desperate, you can shut off the bio-wheel filter. make sure that as soon as shut it off, you take out the bio-wheel and place it vertically into your tank water. that way, the bacteria still have ammonia to feed on. this is only a temporary setup though, and the bacteria will use some oxygen from the water, so pop in an airstone.

As HC said ... your best bet is a sponge filter.
I saw a small one at a LFS for $4.99.
Or
Wrap intake with some gauze to inhibit the flow.
