Peat

Do i have to use fish shop peat moss, can i get some from a garden centre and you that?

I've used Peat media in my filter before to drop the pH level in my tank. I've just this week bought some more for my new scape as i'm creating it so the water is a little darkened, and peat helps tint the water (as well as lower my pH to the desired level)

This is the stuff I bought, and pretty much the same stuff I bought the first time round.

What are you using the peat for?

james i have very hard water and apistos so i want to soften it a little, i have a fluval external filter and thought i could just put it in one of the draws, question is which one, top middle or bottom, and someone else said they had tights with some peat in one of the draws, cant remember who though, di

I'd put them in the basket with the most spare space. & yes, putting them in tights is a good idea as it lets water pass through them but keeps them altogether.

i use alder cones in my fry tank to lower the ph a little and prevent fungus.
