Parrot Cichlids Dyed?

When i was in my lfs a while ago, i noticed what looked like parrot cichlids, they were about 3-4 inches. But they were neon pink and orange. Is this normal or are they dyed. im not sure what kind of fish they were but they looked like parrots.
Also, they were really very bright in colour and ive only ever heard of them being dyed more "pastelly?" colours.

yes i cant imagine what the poor fish must go through to get that colour.
i couldnt believe how bright the pink was!

when they are dyed... when they grow does the dye fade out of them? because then maybe if they are older you might not notice it as much?

THey use acid to remove the slime coat so the dye will stick, and eventually it does go away leaving you with normal colored parrots.
