Paradise Fish Questions

Hi there. I'm Wendy from Nova Scotia, and a newbie

I'm interested in buying one paradise fish, and keeping him in unfiltered, unheated, 10-gallon tank, and was wondering how often, and how much, of the water would need to be changed. Also, are they good beginner fish to keep and less prone to illness then bettas? I'm not having a lot of luck finding much good info. on them, so am hoping someone here is experienced in their care and can help me out

well paradise fish do much better in heated water.....i know they tolarate colder conditions but id reccomend around 24c......and fileration will be muh better

The second-hand tank I bought for him came with one of those hanging power filters, but I have no clue how to use it, lol, but I suppose I could look at the hundreds of filter cycling threads here Seems like a complicated process I was hoping to avoid with frequent water changes, and a turkey baster, like so many do with bettas.

It stays about room temperature in here most times, if not warmer in the winter, so he'll be fine.
