Fantastic fish!! Would love some but cannot seem to find any and also dont think my figure 8's would like them very much!!

hey el_vulture619, any updates? i'm wondering how much they've grown over the past few months. i'm still hoping they won't grow to 12 inches, i hope to keep some one day!

Well the larger one hasnt grown to much. The smaller one has grown a little bit more, but not much either. They seem to be slow growers. Maybe they do just get 4 inches.... :( Only time will tell!

I have since lowed the temp in the tank since I seen the large one barf up all the fish he ate before; guessin that temp might have had something to do with it since is was in the mid 80F. Since it is summer I lowered the heater to help with overheating to 75F. I am currently looking to pick up a few more since I know how to feed them when they are so small.... guppies!

I have a 10g set up in the basement trying to breed guppies at 1.008 sal

hey! whats up? i love your fish, id love to get some waspfish sometime, and you gave me some great info on keeping them a while back when i was considering it, but i really just dont have the money to do a brackish tank right now. any way ~ the forum notes at the bottom of the forum main page that its your birthday, so i thought id say happy birthday ~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

:- :bday: :-

ok, hope you have a good one, and good luck with your fish :good:

I will look at it but my birthday isnt till next month!! July!

Thanks in advanced tho!! Close enough right!

edit: your right I looked at m profile and I had June 22 in there for some reason???!!! Dont know how I did that?!

But hey, my brackish tank is celebrating 1yr + now!! :D

ha ha ha  well then early happy birthday to you now and a timely happy birthday to your brackish tank! :p

Hello I thought these fish were a neat and I am interrested in geting one in the future. Local fish store don't have them but I'm pretty sure they can order them. Right now I have a 20 gal H brackish tank with one Figure 8 puffer probly 1.5 inch and five Bumble Bee Gobies. Do you think that would work? I would imagine the BBGs wouldn't work with the waspfish?

:hi: :hi: to the brackish world!!

BBG would not fit well with the waspfish, you are correct. They will be eaten as soon as the BBGs can fit in their mouths. I placed one in with my waspfish and had to pull it out rite away and bring it back to the LFS. As soon as it was spotted waspfish went on the hunt! :S

I have some bad news..... the smallest waspfish is MIA!! I havent seen it for a few weeks. Last I seen the fish it was chasing other guppies feasting. I have no idea where it is.

R.I.P little waspfish....

That's rubbish, sorry to hear that :(
I am just about to get 3 more of these beauty's :)

Things have not been good. I have moved the fish to another tank kept in the basement while I do some work around my house. During this time I tried lowering the sal to keep feeder guppies alive longer. Lowering the Sal to 1.005, in this time the waspfish has been more active and recently is showing fin rot on its tail fin! :shout: I have done a water change to raise the Sal back up to 1.010. I will leave it there and do another water change on monday.

Tip for waspish: Dont lower the salinity past 1.008!! Ill will try to get a pic and post updates.

That's interesting mine is kept at 1.005 and has been there for about 10 months is active and eating well; he's just shy of 2 inches, how big is the one that got fin rot? I wonder if they require a higher salinity when they get older?

Could it have been the drastic change in salinity that shocked him into finrot or is there a chance that your tank bacteria died when you lowered your salinity therefore reducing your water quality?

Basement lighting does not allow god pics. I have no light over the tank so flash just gives glare.

Mine is just over the 2 inch mark. Maybe some are more picky than others. I think that the older they are the more salty there water should be. By seeing the results from this lower salinity I can see the reasons why. There is also a GSP in the same tank and it has shown no signs of illness. So I do not think that a die off in bacteria is the cause.

Since raising the sal back up and feeding more it seems to be better now. Its tail fin is looking more clear now and is growing a little. the tail fin was the only fin affected.
