I had a female Pearl Gourami in my 30 gallon tank for several months. She was a lovely fish but I had to re-home her as she was to aggressive towards the other tank inhabitants.
People suggested that I get a male to help calm her down/put her in her place.
Instead I re-homed her and got a trio of Honey Gourami. Well the Honey Gourami are nice, but I miss the patterns my girl had and I would like to get another pearl.
But I don;t want to deal with aggression so I was thinking of getting a pair. (Either male/Female or two female).
But I'm not sure my tank has room for two Pearls as 30 Gallons is the suggested minimum...

The tank is 36x12x18, and it's inhabitants are:
1 BNP
3 Honey Gourami (All male, going to try and trade two males for two females)
5 Panda Corys
1 zebra Danio (I tried to catch them all but this last guy was impossible so I left him)

As you can see not exactly a full stock, but I was thinking a group of schooling fish, perhaps Cherry barbs (As the School of Danio's drove my Gourami crazy with their darting movements, and I've heard Cherry barbs are more calm schoolers)

So with
1 BNP
3 Honey Gourami
5 Panda Corys
1 Zebra Danio
6 Cherry Barbs (Open to changing if someone has a suggestion to other calm-ish schooling fish)

Would a pair of Pearls be too much for my tank? (Or even one, though after how my lone female turned aggressive I would really like a pair in the hopes they would keep each other in check)

i wouldnt see a problem with adding a pair in the tank but im not sure what they would be like with the dwarf gouramis as they occupy the same level of the tank(middle/top) , never heard of females being aggressive, i have a 33 gallon tank with 3 females and 1 male and theres no issue with the rest of the tank they pretty much keep any aggression if there is any among'st them selves

Watch out for aggression between the pearls and the honeys.

I've personally never seen aggression with any of my pearl's. But as I've said before, take everything you read online with a pinch of salt - each fish have their own personality, you will always have some that just don't fit the mould.
