That fair enough, If you can get them on theough im sure everyones looking forward to seeing them.

Sounds good then, If it does turn out to be 2 pairs i dont see why a pair in each tank couldnt work although just be careful with the ones in the 20G just incase they are a little to agressive for the other fish.

Yeah ok then. Il keep a close eye on them my 40 gal tank was running for around 4 wks while cycling but yet the water is still cloudy?? Not as bad as it 1st was but still quite far off being clear like my 20g... And suggestions on that??

How did you cycle it? Might be worth a big waterchange.

I was told cos it was new gravel and so on 2 makes sure i started my cleaning the gravel and wiping down the inside of the tank then 2 put the gravel in the tank, the fill with water half way, then add plants etc, then fill other half of the tank with water... Then leave the filter in there with no fish for at least 2 wks...

Big water change as in 50 - 70% maybe??

Ahh i see the problem, just leaving the tank wont cycle it. Have a read through the Cycling pieces in this thread

Ah so iv basically messed up what should i do now? I have fish in the tank now. They have been in there a week. They seem to be doing fine, the temp is on 24... It's just the water is cloudy

Its not a great start but can be done. I wouldnt change round any of the stocking until the tank is fully cycled. You will need to do daily waterchanges, since its not that heaven tstock you should get away with around 40%. Might be worth getting a test kit, once the ammonia and nitrate levels are 0 even before water changes the tank is cycled. Has the other tank been set up longer? if its been set up for a few months then it will have already cycled so you can take some of the filter media/sponge from the other tank and put it in the filter in this tank which should help speed up the cycling.

Right ok then. The other tank has been set up for around 3 months now. The water was only cloudy for around a week in that tank...

Well i would take some of the media from that tank and put it in the other one and do a big waterchange then keep up with daily ones until its fully cycled then you can change round the stocking.

Do you know anyone else with a tank? if you know someone with quite a heavily stocked tank ask for some of there media then that should help the cycling a lot and if you get enough it could even be almost instant.

I did a 40 - 50% water change (and gravel clean) today but then also added my spare fluval u2 internal filter as well as my interpet pf4 and the water is now almost crystal clear after only 2 hours of having the 2 filters running
