I asked a similar question not to long ago. In my case I have 4 hob filters on the back of a 35 gallon tank. I asked about over stocking it a little as I was pumping more then 760gph. Everyone said they would not recommend doing it, however I have about 5 more fish in the tank that I should have and all is well. I plan to add a couple more in the next few weeks.

Dont push your luck ccq, its not all about filtration, and you will learn this the hard way if you carry on.... Remember, fish need adequate personal space and swimming room, its not just about how clean your water is.....*sigh*

I have not lost a fish in over 2 years, and only about 6 of the fish are recent ones. I admit the tank was never over stocked, but everything in the tank is full grown and all have lots of hiding places along with lots of swimming room.

None of my fish are stressed out or anyhting like that due to the few extra fish I have added. Both the tiger and gold barbs are laying eggs several days a week, etc, so I am assuming my fish are happy, and will be for years to come.
