Our tank so far......

did u put ur fish in the same day u set up the tank? i hope for your fish's sake u didn't. U know ur meant to let ur tank cycle first?
Thats a little harsh. They've posted pictures of their tank and the first reply they get is yours. nice. As far as I'm aware they did do a fishless cycle. And a quick look at thier posts seem to prove this.

Ok then...if somebody was to post a picture of their 10 gallon tank with a 12" pleco in it...what would be the first thing out of your mouth?- "Oh, what a nice tank!" or "That pleco doesn't belong in there, that tank is too small for him". Think about it. In this case, you knew "Jo and Gra" had cycled the tank, but obviously "sarah-j" didn't. She didn't read the post close enough. And I don't see how she came off "harsh". She ASKED before she accused, "did u put ur fish in the same day u set up the tank?" She did not come right out and say: "You put fish in before you cycled!" and then she explained why that isn't a good idea: "U know ur meant to let ur tank cycle first?" I thought that was very appropriate and well put. Some of us need to get some pointers from Sarah-J in my opinion!

If I did not know about cycling tanks, and someone says "Did you cycle your tank first?" I would of said "No, I did not. Should I of?", did some research, and cycled the tank next time, and probably felt pretty bad as it is for exposing my fish to the circumstance.. When someone says "Did you cycle the take? I hope you did, or your fish are suffering and it's your fault"... That is a WHOLE nother story. Then I feel defensive, and fights start. It is a mean thing to say, because it implies the person doesn't have the fishes best interest in mind. There is a difference between ignorance and cruelty. In my mind, that is what the above quoted statement was saying, with less words.

Yes, it is true that the fish will be much better off id the tank is cycled. But it is completly unnecessary to try to blame a fish keeper of cruelty like that statement does unless you know the person KNOWS that a tank should be cycled and is just choosing not to.

Especially when you don't know for sure if that is the case.

... Just my opinion

great tank it looks really great :kewlpics:
love the cories!what else are you planning on?

The whole point is that she didn't see that they had pointed out that their tank had cycled...I thought you guys would notice that, instead of instanly scolding her. Yes, I do agree that the "i hope for your fish's sake u didn't." was unnecessary but I don't see how that is really mean...she just feels sorry for the fish that had to go into a non-cycled tank (which wasn't the case). I just thought houndour's response was kind of...weird. Houndour could of just said "Their tank is cycled" instead of getting mad at Sarah-J for something that wasn't even that bad. :dunno:

well, waiting to see what happens with the fry. to see about further stocking.

but i think a few more plants.

but the main thing is the removal of snails. what a pain they are!

i'll try and get some pics of our balloon mollies and bronze cories. the cory jullii are now a lot more defined in thier colour. much more black and white.

Definitely get more plants. The more the better in my opinion. The snails are a pain though and can be a bit unsightly. I don't think you'd have room now, but maybe in the future when some of your fish move one you could take a look at botia. There are some smaller species that eat snails :)
