Hello,
We are currently in the middle of building an aquarium in the wall of our living room and would like to share it with you, We are nearly there now. Hopefully the end result will be a 4ft plasma/picture on the wall. It has taken some thought in getting it to work, and a lot of hard work gone into it so far. We had to sell our other tank due to it being in the way and no room for our new corner settee, so this was the next best thing. Our fish are currently in the garage in a spare tank waiting for this to be built. The filters will be fed through to the garage (behind tank) and the florescent lights are built in above where the tank will be.
I will upload pics of it from start to finish but we are at the stage now where the steel runners and shelf for the tank are to go in for us to pull it out to clean etc. We are also looking into getting an automatic feeder so we don't have to pull it out everyday, especially with the settee going along the bottom of it. Im wondering weather to go for black gravel or sand for that contemporary look. We are going to get a silver/stainless frame built for it to hide all the edges to give it that picture frame feel. Well we hope you will like it and please comment or send us some ideas to finish it.

sounds interesting not sure what you mean by pulling it out so will wait for pictures

Going to be watching this.

Good luck, hope all goes well.

Cant wait to see pictures! This is something Ive wanted to do since I started keeping fish, by using the wall in my living room that seperates it from the under stair cupboard.. but I never could thing around a way to get to it for cleaning and feeding!

Im still trying to figure out how to upload pics, is there a simple link as im not into html.

youll be best to setup a photo bucket account as its the easiest way and then copy the img code

You need to upload them to a photo hosting website, like photobucket or similar, then you can copy the link to the photo, click the 'insert image' icon and paste!

If theres a simpler way.. I dont know it lol

i'm struggling to see how you're going to get into the top to carry out maintenance?

It is going on a aluminium shelf on fixed steel runners so it will slide out a third of the way. My husband just inserting the runners now as we speak.

Aaah, I'm liking it. I thought it was going to be a whole wall, but how you've got it is nice too. Would you trust aluminium runners? Its an easy metal to bend. I'm sure you've researched it all as you've done a good job there.

I must ask a question though, I really don't mean to cause upset but I'm just wondering why you have put it so high?

Hi, thanks for question, The runners are made of steel and rated at 60kg each rail and there are 4 runners. The shelf is aluminium....Also it is higher as we wanted it out of the way so it doesn't shine into the tv and it looks more like a picture, also the settee is going under it. I will upload a picture i saw that i wanted to achieve this look.
Thanks
