Hi all, today I just discover that my little oto cat in my 25g have his dorsal fin nipped by unknown fish. Well as u can see the fish I have in my 25g in signature box below. Well I'm just curiouse to find out which fish is being nippy :(. My water stats r all great ammonia etc r all 0 and with arround 10nitrate, only ph is a little high been doing water change every 5 days after got the pooing machine pleco. I dont think its fin rot as my water have been maintain very well, as well all my other fish r fine too.

thx for ur advice

If water quality is good that's fine it should heal on it's own, i would watch for the fin nipper if you think you have one.

I would keep an eye on the Cardinals, I notice mine occasionally like to nip at smaller fish to see how they taste.

p.s. they seem to love the taste of pleco fry & cory eggs, neither lasts long in the community tank

I have concluded that tetras of all sizes nip.

I watch from my computer while a shoal of diamond head neons (very like cardinals but smaller) are constantly enforcing their pecking order. Some tetras, like serpaes, qualify as semi-agressive nippers. But most don't seem to do any real harm and keep it in the family.

Although I notice that the sparklers and honeys don't enter the feeding frenzy at feeding time. They stay warily to the outside.

I have not spent time observing the tiny green neons, but I assume they do their share of in-family nipping, too.

OK thx guys. I will keep an eye on him, hope he recover soom or I have to put him to the 10g to avoid being bullyed.
