does anyone have a full grown oscar? do you have a picture with size reference like a hand?
post now!!

Google it,you should find something. Why do you want a pic anyways?Just curious :shifty:

tried google and i couldn't find one with size reference
it's to prove people wrong in that they cannot fit in a 20 gallon!

Get the latest PFK if you can, it's got a lovely picture in it of a breeding pair from one of my local LFS's. Even better if you're in the north east, give the little pet shop in gateshead a visit. That's where the pic was taken. Then you can really see how big oscars can get.

EDIT - Just read why you want the pic. The only time you would comfortably get an Oscar in a 20g is when it is very juvinile. I would say at the very least a 30g, preferably a 40g!

Oscars need a minimum of 55g or 75g depending on who you ask. I'd say 75g. But a 55g wouldn't be impossible, as long as there were no other fish. In a 75g you could get away with a medium plec or a small group of dither fish.

I think catxx wants to prove you can't keep an Oscar in a 20G - not the other way round. :p

I'd agree with Lisa on the 75 gal minimum for a single Oscar though. :good:

It's on Coatsworth road in Gateshead, at the top end at the very top of bensham bank. They also have alot of other tropical community fish too, reasonably priced and always appear in good condition.

Same here, they are fantastic. You see their offspring too? Can't believe something so big produces such small fry!
