What would people suggest I get for a 5ft tank two oscars or two jags all opinions welcome.

Now I like the jags but hard to find any of size where as oscars are easy to source.

I have approx 20 jags to give away, but they are still a bit small.
Where do you live?

If your thinking of a pair I would suggest something a little rarer than either of those as both of those are quite common and it may be hard to rehome the resulting young when the time comes. Though saying that Oscars are in much higher demand than Jags.

Both these fish have quite different personalities - Oscars are waggy happy dogs (wolves haha) and Jaguars are just wolves haha! But still have a certain character to them... it depends on which side you sit on these.

Depending on where you are it could be quite easy to point you in the direction of something that would do great in a big 5 foot tank and yet be rare enough to sell the fry on at some value and actually be able to move them on (if of course that is the intention)

Wills

I'd agree with wills i'd go for something a little different. Personally if it was me id try to hunt down some True Parrots. I feel this would be very rewarding if you managed to get a breeding pair :)

True Parrots are pretty but boring in comparison to things like Jags, Oscars, Gold Saums etc.

Im from swansea I like the idea of something rare. Any ideas other than true parrots?

Never really looked at green terrors might do some reading on them.

what about paratilapia polleni? they're a madagascan cichlid absolutely stunning when fully grown. or if you're not put off by hybrids maybe flowerhorns? or red texas?

I agree with Paratilapia polleni. My boyfriend used to have a female and they are aggressive though so watch them. I also agree with True Parrot Cichlids or, if you can source them, True Green Terrors(Andinoacara stalsbergi). Don't be fooled into buying Gold Saums(Andinoacara rivulatus) thinking they are GT's. GT's have white along the dorsal and tail not orange.

Gold Saums are much nicer looking than Silver Saums or true GTs tho in my experience.
