Aye, I've had a few phone about him but when I asked what size tank they had they all of them were saying 2.5ft or less. Needless to say thay got a short, sharp answer.

And yes you did right by not letting him go to a small tank like that.

Thanks for the info too. I have a few cichlid gold pellets left so will feed them to him when he is a bit bigger.

You can get cichlid gold in a smaller varierty. I know they have a small medium and susspect they have a large. I can only find the small and medium ones.

It's the small that i have, but don't think he is big enough to 'easily' eat one. I chucked a couple of algae tablets in for the plecs, brke them in half first, he grabbed it and swallowed it in one then proceeded to expell most of it through his gills for about an hour afterwards! Will carry on with prima for another week then introduce some of the cichlid gold. Should i be adding some sort of vegetable based food too for variety and other nutrients?

Didn't know you had an oscar mate? would love an oscar some day, had a small one (3-4inch) in my 55g not knowing what they was and i loved it, obv re-homed it though.

I'm using the medium cichlid gold, crush them up, normally they break in half. I've gotta do it so my kribs & ruby shark get some in the GT tank lol.
Often crush them up for my other tank for the cardinals & ram too.

I get shouted at tho because i crush them on the top of the cupboard door
