Oscar Question

No I havnt bought one lol. Someone has offered a home for one of my big plecs (gibbs) they have a 500l tank BUT it also has 2 Oscars, would my ol boy be safe with oscars?

my dad has kept plecs and oscars for years and they were fine

Only issue would be keeping on top of the filteration, apart from that theyre normally fine

Will be fine with Oscars, they are generally big girls blouses and an armoured plec is more than capable of defending itself should an Oscar have a nose to see what it is. The only time Oscars are considered a danger is if they can fit another fish in their mouth and that certainly isnt the case with Gibbs

yes will be fine,i had my huge plec with two oscars,at one point i had five oscars in with him, never harrased him at all....but as stated fileration and good waterchanges needed....

PS.....Someone is coming around later today hopefully, dropping me two oscars<a supposed breeding pair of tigers,,est 13 and 10inch..hehe he desp needs to rehome as moving house..

Thanks for the replies. I hang my head in shame, when it came to it I just cannot part with him, he and Jethro have been together 10 years, they sulked and stressed last time I parted them, they dont squabble that often really and they cause no harm to the other fish, just uproot all the plastic plants in temper!
