Oscar parasite

My son has an Oscar fish . Today we noticed something white on the tail . Would any one know what this is please.

how long has the tank been set up for?
what is the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and pH of the tank water (in numbers)?

how long have you had the fish for?
have you added anything to the tank in the 2 weeks before this started?

how often do you do water changes?
how much water do you change?
do you gravel clean the substrate when you do the water change?
do you dechlorinate the new water before adding it to the tank?

what sort of filter is on the tank?
how often and how do you clean the filter?

Hi there thanks for your reply. Unfortunately my son is not about at the moment to answer all those questions. Do you have an idea what it is ?? This picture was taken when he got the fish maybe 6 months ago.

Maybe trematodes (skin flukes, like Gyrodactylus)? They can be treated with PraziPro, potassium permanganate etc. Is he showing any other symptoms (heavy breathing, flashing, abnormal poop etc.)?

I need pictures of the fish that are taken today.

It could be white spot or the start of hole in the head disease (aka head and lateral line disease).

HLLE doesn't present like this, and neither does white spot. This looks like a bug that's partially buried under the skin and protruding outwards, my money is on an external parasite, most likely a fluke.
