oscar feeding

i know that oscars can get hole in the head form live food from the pet store. but wonder if i raise my own fish to fed them and make sure they are healty will it make a diffeecnce and will my oscars still get sick from my feeders

some disease can strike one type of fish more than another so there may still be a chance but it would be greatly reduced.

If i remember rightly (correct me if im wrong) hole in the head is usually caused by poor water quality.
Oscars imo should not be fed feeders regularly and will be much healthier if fed on one of the cichlid staple pellet foods with the occasional treat of meaty foods like mussels cockles or earthworms or even feeders if you like that sort of thing.
