Oscar Day Is Coming....

sounds great. you're going to have so much fun with your new oscar!

do you have any pics of the setup with decor?

Not yet, the tank is still 'misty' with gravel dust/crap. I've only got the terracotta pot and a bit of guttering for a pleco cave so its not much to look at lol. What sort of fake plants do you think? I've never used fake so dont really know what to look for.

heres a burner for you,,,,

what oscar type you gonna get?
tiger :good: /red :good: /albino :good: /veil tail  /if you can find one,,,a beautiful wild type

Tiger. He's bought and paid for already, the LFS are looking after him(her) until the tank is ready :D Busy thinking of names too, tricky :p

talking about him/her , why is it that most if not all of the oscars are assumed to be boys-my 3 are boys (?) minx fishy`s is.. what about yours nelly... well you never now where your concerned  sushi is a boy

Water's clearing nicely now, managed to find a nice big lump of bogwood in the LFS, was already in one of their tanks so its all nice and pre-soaked too :)

what size oscar is it you have bought?
thats wood is massive, how much did that cost you, mines a tight @rse, he wont sell pre soaked wood, and i really can be bothered buying something that i cant use for weeks, tho im lucky as i always seem to get some with new tanks lol

EDIT cos i read it properly-regarding size of O  ,i was a bit worried that there wasnt going to be much room left but the pic is on an angle,so u maybe lucky

Theres still plenty of space left in there, i'm confident that its going to work out ok :) My oscar is about 4 inches currently.

I paid £32 for that wood, should have been an awful lot more but i'm blessed with the "gift of the gab" ;) The correct amount for the wood was around £60 so i'm happy :p

I've ordered some fake plants too for now, I'll leave them in there until he(she) starts ripping them up.

Water is clearing more as I type so i'm going to move filter media around tommorow and give the tank a kickstart, I'm also going to move the pleco over sometime v soon too. I've got a whole tray's worth of biomedia to move and also a very mature eheim sponge (from the lfs) to collect and drop into the filter so I'm looking at getting the oscar later this week and treating it as a massive waterchange rather than a new tank. I'll expect a mini cycle but I dont think its going to be a massive one, if it does start spiking then I have access to more mature media so all should be good :)
