i got 7 of these blue eyed rice fish today
i did the research i could but its very limited out there
Can anyone tell me what family these fish belong to so that i might be able to research more
My water is soft and ph is 7.2-7.4 , temp is 24-26
my nitrates now read 0 - 3 days after a water change - 10-20 from tank then goes to zero when in the tank for a few days
nitrites 0
ammonia 0

they are sharing a tank with guppys , platys(going weekend) , harlequin rasboras , dwarf and honey gouramis , corys , shrimps and snails

Just wondering if anyone knows a link or can give me more info on these cute little fishies

Thanks Sarah x

I find javanicus are best kept at a temperature 74f-76f
I keep mine in a two foot tank males have a longer dorsal. when they spawn the eggs stick to the females vent in a tiny bunch of up to 5 eggs at a time where they are fertilized by the males the eggs will soon be brushed of on to the plants. I look for eggs once a week by using a spawning mop it makes it easy to find and pick of the eggs.they are then put into a Margarine tub half full with tank water they hatch after about 10 days. the fry are first fed on micro worms for a few days and then newly hatch brineshrimp. I change a small part of the water every 3 to 4 days after about 2 0r 3 weeks I then move them on to a larger container or a small tank.
