Im after something more natural but maybe things like sunken ships or something as a centre piece/hideaway for the fish

I've only got 1 goldfish until my tanks properly cycled, but he/she loves the sunken ship :good:

i used to have a pirate theme in my old tank but i much prefer the natural look now. I've got one easter island head in there the rest is wood and real plants. Can't stand the look of fake plants personally and since i have peacful fish i may aswell have real plants!! plus lots of plants and wood means lots of hiding places for the fish!

theres a pic/link to my tank in my sig :good:

the only issue i have now, is that algae will get on the silk plants and ruin them, so i need to find a way to stop this, or end up replacing them all after say 3 months.
I have silk plants and to combat the algae, take them out and soak them in a bucket with a bleach water mix. Make sure you rinse them really well.. then rinse them some more. Then let them soak in the bucket with clean water and declorinator for a while.

I have never had any problems with any of my tanks from doing this. The only problem Ive had with my silk plants is if you have fish that like to nibble plants then the leaves can get frayed. Then they have to be replaced anyway.

I have found silk plant fragments wrapped around my filters impeller more than once.

I think if you enjoy your tank and setup, be it a underwater circus or a little slice of a Amazon rain forest then all that matters is that you and your family enjoy it.

I've only been in this hobbie for 2 weeks, so there's really nothing else i can advise on, there are some absolutely stunning setups on here and others that just aren't my cuppa, but i think it's really like art, 1 persons "bits of paint flung on a canvas" is another persons master piece.

I love some of the all natural tanks, i think they look stunning, but i also love me sunken ship and Greek column :D

I would like a sunken ship for my centre piece but they are quite expensive for a big one. I really like your marne style one 8inary. Might steal the idea off you if you don't mind and have a rescape?

Hi Emma

yeah go for the sunken ship, i'm new to this but thought the natural look was
best with no cheesey stuff and intended to stick to that until i saw Spongebobs pineapple house
which now has pride of place while i'm cycling, some may cringe, but it make me laugh, so go for it
