Opinions...please!

nice one! that powerhead might be overkill though?! washing machine effect inc! :D

I desired a constant whirlpool within my aquarium ha. I will need to test the baby out, but I was going for circulation for the dwarf species of pleco's I'm purchasing. It will not be a problem if I feel the flow is to intense, I'll simply save this pump for some other project :hey:

I know the Madagascar lace is a difficult plant, but I’m giving it a go (I could not resist)…I know they naturally do not have such direct sunlight, but the gentlemen I purchased them from had his with high output light, and he’s been keeping this species for many years…

I did obtain Easycarbo, and Seachem trace elements. I hope this will wok, but some new leaves have already sprouted from a few of the bulbs? How can this be with such unstable water chemistry, it has only been four days? The pouch in the middle is Seachem Purigen, does an amazing job absorbing the extra tannins that did not leak out from the one week of soaking. I also did not add a finer netting to the purigen, only a few particles flowed out from the one provided. I also dose the cube with Vitachem, is this advised or should I stop? I am happy with the aquascape, but will be obtaining a few more plants. I can not wait till this rimless is more matured!

I hear the lace leaves have high nitrate concentration, thus meaning more frequent water changes weekly? Keep in mind this aquarium is still somewhat cloudy...I give it no more than 72 hours before viewing crystal clear water :) Also, still debating the inhabitants, but I'm cycling the aquarium for about four-five weeks, if the parameters are suitable of course :big_boss:

Love that photo!

You have done a great job with the tank. This is a proper journal, right from the start. Especially with the pics of the new stuff still in the boxes, and i like how you haven't rushed to start it until you have the majority of the stuff you need/want.

Well done to you!

Thank you... :thanks: definitely a learning experience on my behalf, being new to the planted world. I'm soaking in as much knowledge as possible. Reading back on this thread, it is entertaining to see how indecisive I am haha. I am really enjoying this aquarium, probably one of my most enjoyable projects thus far. Even toppling over my two 180 gallon saltwater aquariums :good: I can not wait for the matured results/potential. I am leaning towards two or three true L-46, red crystal shrimp, some other various morphs of shrimp. I shall introduce the shrimp first...my selection at the moment.

Sounds great!! I am relatively new to the planted setup too... I have a lot to thank this section of the forum for! Very helpful and very interesting to read what everyone is upto with their tanks!

I am just trying to improve the appearance of my man cave ha. I'll be adding a few new pieces of rock, and some undecided plants next week :) I need plants with height, for the rear of my cube, so I shall be searching vigorously!

Great pictures! Good looking set-up. Thanks for sharing.

If you want to get some cover for the back of the tank quickly, I'd go for some fast growing stems. Maybe hygrophila difformis if you want it to fill out a bit, but almost any hygrophila will do the job.

My first fish is an L-8 (Prince Tiger or Leopard Peckoltia...I basically just bought to help clean, and rid some of the snail eggs. Has done a great job already, shall stay small, and I've always liked these species of peckoltia. Real easy species to obtain as well...within Florida at least. I may take the Leopard back, when my True L-46 arrives this upcoming Friday, because of possible territorial disputes
