Sorry I don't have pics yet will try get some tonight!

I bought what I thought was 4 females the other wkend 2 are def females (have had eggs from both) the other two I bought were small in comparison and I'm starting to wonder if one of them is a male as its fins have started to grow and it is constantly flaring at the others! It was purchased as a female but with it showing different behaviour and appearance I'm starting to wonder! I bought my first pair of females on the saturday and then I bought the other two the next day from a different shop! Any ideas will be welcome

Do you have any pics? Also try to look for a white spot on the belly known as an ovipositer,
if it's there, 99% chance it's a girl.

Congrats on the buys. Yea! pics!

And what she said. Other than the ovipositor and the fins and behavior--it's wait and see.

Haven't seen a white dot on either of the two new ones! Have feeling it is def male! Will prob be quite a nice one too! Even the other one hasnt got an oviposter either but have a feeling they were too young to be sold when I bought them! My bf got a camera today so will try get pics tonight!

I brought 4 females from my LFS and after a few weeks I had the same problem as you. As it turned out 1 of mine is a male :S although he does have a small ovipositor, he was very aggresive towards the other females, longer fins (as he's grown) and he flares at his own reflection which my females do not do.

I would advise keeping a close eye on him/her, mayb get a breeding trap ready and if he gets too aggresive be prepared to move him into it until you can find alternative accomodation.

Good luck
xx
