Opinions On My Water Stats?

Why would they include a chlorine test and not an ammonia test? That makes no sense.
A question I ask all the time.

My guess is that it is probably cheaper to include the chlorine test versus including the ammonia test?

I see no problems with the strips. they work fine for me and others, and ive never had problems.

When you say they work fine for you, what do you mean. There is nothing that tells you they are inaccurate so for example if your nitrite is 1 and you get a reading of 2, there is no way to know that they are inaccurate and as a result that you are having a problem?

Just to add ... if you use a dechlorinator like Seachem Prime, you'll also neutralize a number of other nasties in your water. Costs a little more but you use less and it's well worth it.

I agree with you. I always use Prime, and have found it helps if one of your levels for whatever the reason spikes and you have fish in there (it can decrease, though I wouldn't call it remove, and you still need water changes), ammonia and nitrite.

I use the Tetra strips and in my experience the Nitrate reading always agrees with my liquid nitrate test, but the pH reading is a bit inaccurate.  The GH, KH and Chlorine tests are all useful though.  Not sure about Nitrite as I've never used them on a sample with any nitrite.

I've also wondered why they don't include ammonia, but even if they did I'd still feel safer with a liquid ammonia test.

Yea I'll be sure to get a liquid AMMONIA test as I've found to be most accurate. But all the other tests on the strips are working fine from what I can see.
