Oops!... My Hand Slipped!

I have a fungus infected Black Moore and decided to treat with Methylene blue... When I poured it in... My hand slipped and I poured enough to make a ship sink.....

I immediately did a 70% water change, but the tank is still so dark blue that I cannot see the fish..... Will this be detrimental to the fish??...

hmmm not sure,might be best to do another w/c just in case.

It may mess your filter up more...

Not sure about the fish; even a small amount can turn a tank blue so it will be difficult to gauge just how much is left in there..
What i do know is that any overdose of meth blue will wipe out the established filter media on contact

Well there's just strong aeration in there... No filtering atm.... He was moved into the tank exclusively for treatment.

Methylene Blue has a wide safety margin and is nontoxic when used as recommended. Fishes tolerate relatively high dosages without side effects.

Put my hand in there to search for the fish and my hand came out all stained, but I did find the fish.... (still alive, and it's been 24 hours).... Will do another 70% change tomorrow... Thanks for the link... feel more comfy now, (but still a little worried)

If you have any active carbon around then this can help remove some more.

A couple more large water changes & your Blue... errr... Black Moore should be fine.



Sorry Lud, couldn't resist. I've done the same thing hatching eggs, tipping the bottle to get the eyedropper in over the tank. Any that were infertile turned a beautiful shade of teal.

Actually, I really did think this bottle had one of those dropper thingies on, and it did not.... and Tolak is right.... My Black Moore is now a Blue moore (so's my hand) but he looks a lot more cheerfull after a 90% water change. (But still blue)
