Hello all
I have a 14 gallon tank, 6 tiger barbs and 6 white tetras plus a pleco. I came from work to find the pleco finishing off one of the tiger barbs!

I didnt see that it was sick or anything and the others look ok.

Why did it die? Did my pleco kill it?

It's very unlikely that your plec killed the tiger barb, they're very peaceful. Most fish will eat a dead one.

How long has your tank been set up? Do you have water testing kit? In any case, always do a large water change (making sure the new water is warmed and dechlorinated, of course) if anything looks out of the ordinary in your tank.

Watch the rest of your fish carefully. Since it only one, it's possible that it could have been a one-off, bad health fish. However to be on the safe side, I would perform a 50% water change, just in case somehow anything got into the water. Very unlikely, but it happens. If all the others survive the next day or so, I think it's safe to say it was just a one-off.
