I would like to add one more cichlid to finish off the stocking of the tank i have tried a couple but none seemed to work out i tried a Copadichromis borleyi i belive it was but just got chased around the whole time then i foud out it would get to 8". Then i tried a male Metriaclima estherae (Blue) but boy i nearly had a death him and my greshakei one of them would of killed one another i should have thought they would as they look so simular. So if i post my list what could i look at getting a nice colourful one that could handle its self?
3x Labodochromis Caeruleus
1x Metriclima Estharae (all orange)
1x Pseudotropheus Socolofi Albino
1X Metriclima Greshakei (red top ice blue)
1x Metriclima Lombardoi
3x Aulonocara Peacocks
1x Melanochromis Cyaneorhabdos
1x Labeotropheus Fuelleborli o.b

It is extremely difficult to add a single fish to an esxisting Mbuna tank, the newcomer will always get picked on. Occasionally it works if you add a very small juvenile who would not be perceived as a threat. The other option is to add an adult that is bigger than the existing fish, the problem with that is that the new fish may pick on the rest.

To be honest, it would be easier to leave things as they are, Mbuna really need to be added in groups to spread the aggression around. If you are prepared to keep returning fish, you could could keep trying until you get lucky.

The fish i added yesterday was the same size as the ice blue and looke very simular which is why i had problems when it went in he turned pale and just went for him when i took him back his colour instantly came back. But i had no problems when i introduced the o.b that went fine. So im not sure what to do thing is all the fish look quiet simular hard tring to get different looking ones.

Even if it looks different it will still be the newcomer and you could have problems, it is never easy to add a single fish. Its basically going to be trial and error until you get lucky, i've had the most success ading juveniles which, as i said should not be perceived as a threat.

My lfs has a Melanochromis auratus Just found out as the owner told me it was a krib so how would this be or is that a big no no.

i agree with ferris and i'm talking from experience.adding single fish will usually prove troublesome.i would leave your tank as it is,or,add another group(3 - 4) depending on how large your tank is.you will never get perfection in a malawi tank, but,if you get a peaceful/colourful tank, then,i would leave it as it is.i added a couple of large zebras and my male greshakei killed them both within 24 hrs.

Auratus are generally very aggressive, be warned.

yeah im not going to look at getting it there is one in my other post i would like id he look great but not sure what it is could you have a look
