Ive had my silver tipped tetras for about 5 months now, if not longer and ive just noticed the smallest one has only got one eye. His/her left eye is completely missing, there is just a hole where it should be. Is it possible that ive only just noticed because its recently happened, if so how and how on earth did this fish survive, or could it have just had one eye from the start and im completly oblivious.

Im in a small state of shock, i tried to get a pic but the little tiddler keeps swimming off.

it could have just happened or been like that for a while, i have several fish with one eye, one i brought like that (bit of a rescue) a desert goby, which is common as they fight and they seem to damage their heads alot whilst fighting, also a couple of mollies, don't know if its from fighting or bumping into something. anyway all of them have been fine since with no problems. Hope he survives, i don't see why he would not though unless it gets infected.

Loaches and knife fish are renowned for taking eyes out of tetras.

I have a harlequin rasbora with one eye. I suspect it was pecked out by another fish. It's been totally fine for many months, even showing signs of breeding.
