Omg! Cracked Tank!

Arrggghhh!! Just as I was just getting somewhere. Done some aquascaping tank looked really good, had to rehome a common plec and Asian bumblebee cat today aswell.

Whilst I was topping up the sand, which I had been meaning to do since I got the tank a couple of weeks ago, I heard a crack!! My heart sank I was really looking forward to stocking this tank.

I got a garden house and threw it out the window and started syphoning the tank. All the water is now out as is 30kg of sand. Luckily I hadnt got rid of my smaller 125litre tank, that was due to go on gumtree or Friday ad tomorrow.

So I am now looking for another 4ft tank!!

Arrrgggghhhhh what a perfect day!!!!

that must be awful. A cracked tank is something I always worry about. Especially now I'm going mbuna so am going to add loads of rocks. Just thinking about the mess that could be made...

Did any water leak anywhere, or were you able to syphon it out before it flooded the house?

It dripped but that's about it. I'm not having much luck. About a month ago an external filter leaked and before I realised there was 60 litres on the floor. But this time there wasn't any. No more than what you normally get from cleaning and moving thing around.

Im not sure. When I took the tank off the stand it look as though it had been knocked and slightly weakened at the back on the joint. And the crack I think started there and went from back to front diagonally across the bottom. So glad I was there when it went otherwise is could have collapsed. Ok just set up the smaller tank and the fish are in there until I can find another tank

This day is getting better and better. Set up the new tank, and now the light doesn't work, it was a bit of a boj job anyway, however it is totally knackered now, and I can't even get a new hood for it(well looked online anyway) as the size of it is strange. Now my plants are going to die. Arrrggghhhhh!! Lol

I've never had a cracked tank but my tank leaked like crazy one night, I say like crazy nothing like what you guys have had, maybe 1-2ltr leaked out over my desk and off the desk on to my xbox lucky my laptop was on a little stand to stop it from over heating or it'd went boom.

I hope it all picks up from here for you mate.

Oh I forgot to say I lost a Molly as well. It jumped out of the bucket it was in, and I accidentally trod on it, I didn't even realise I had done it among the running around

Yeh I think the tank had been damaged whilst moving it and the crack originated from there.

I'm really sorry for you. Maybe you could fix the tank with fish-safe silicone sealant. I have no experience with tanks that size. Imagine all the fish that could thrive in there!!! One time a five gallon of mine with a Betta and a loach in it cracked. Dad got angry at me because he thought I was just lazy and not mopping up the spilled water. WRONG! No fish was hurt, luckily.
