One of my girlies came down sick so I moved her into a little plastic box thingie and have been using Maracyn and Maracyn2 to treat her popeye and I dunno what else.... She can't seem to "right" herself and has a tendency to lie on her side. The other girls in her tank and the other occupants are dong great so no problem there.

I've had her in the box for the last week and maybe a few days too. I've also been adding in Jungle Fungus stuff per someone's advice. Her eyes look better and less swollen. She's hanging in there and swims around rapidly as she's afraid of me when I'm treating her. Her color looks somewhat less faded although it's truly not what it once was.

She's only a year old or so. I know for sure it's not old age as a factor here.

I've put her up and out of the way so the cats can't get her and where she can catch the warm air currents. I'm open to suggestions as I don't know where to go from here. She is trying her best to get better and I'd love to return her to her sisters or make a better life for her if she can't return.

THANKS in advance.

Sorry, happyannie.

Look what it took to get you to say :hey:

I have been on a losing streak. I have lost three in the last few weeks. The last one I haven't got a clue. He was great! One of my red vts. Gave him a water change--fresh clean tank--Saturday. He seemed fine Sunday. Monday morning he didn't eat--looked ok, but hanging under a tattered bubblenest with his nose pointed up to it. Monday night he was dead. ????

The next last of my Synirr boys pineconed and passed quickly a week or two ago.

At the same time, I tried a new heater on Ms. Kinky and she died. I think she cooked. She hadn't looked too good through the winter.

The red vt mate I got at the same time, after a water change a couple of weeks ago, lost swim control and was gone in a day or two. I figured I must have damaged him in the water change when I didn't take him out and used a syphon. Now I wonder.

The Erica girl I put in the sorority took sick and passed with a popeye, but I think the stress of the sorority and her long running battle with fungus finally wore her out. The tank was clean and in good condition. No one else has shown any problems although one of the adf's has been AWOL.

Lost four panda corydoras when I tried to lower their water temp as someone recommended. Don't know if that is over yet.

What I don't know would fill a book.

But I'm happy I was encouraged back into Bettas. My Synirr Sorority is a delight to watch. Quasi turned out to be a boy who builds bubble nests into mountains. What a character!

I hope your girl pulls through for you. I have no suggestions. I lose as many to meds as are saved.

I too have a sick girl at the moment... Sounds like you're doing everything you can for the moment, just keep her water crystal, remember popeye doesn't kill its the secondary infections it brings along that do.

jollysue you are really going through a die-off period and I'm sure it's been distressing for you. Sorry about the losses of your little friends. I'm glad you're not feeling discouraged about fish-keeping because you enjoy it so much.

natsuko-- Our new mother on the forum. Thanks for taking the time to respond! and to jaded as well.

We'll just keep going with treatments and see where it leads. I don't want her to suffer but she's trying too hard to put down.

Thanks! again.

Well let us know how things go I hope she pulls through for you. Unfortunately I dont have a pc at home which is why I dont get to post often but will try and keep in touch now that were out and about.

She's just about the same...... so I dunno.... I have to change out her water tomorrow partially so will see if she'll eat something. She's made some progress as she had been curled around with her tail propping her up at the bottom so she could have her face out of the water to breathe. Now at least she's able to stay under... so that's an improvement.. I have some java moss in with her so she can prop herself up and also she tries to hide when big bad me is working with her.

Natsuko--how's the baby doing?
