Multiple people in the other thread I posted asking if chasing/etc is normal for females suggested that I should get a couple more females to spread aggression.

I didn't want to get more due to it only being a 5 gallon space the 3 were in so decided to move the divider over.
This gives them about 7 gallons of space leaving 3 for my male on the other side.
(I swear it's not as dirty as it looks rofl)

Ok so now the question is... how many more females should/can I get? Will 1 more be ok? Or would 2 more be better and is there space enough for that many?

hmmmm hard call really as this isnt big enough for any more females, and if you add 1 more the fighting will get worse as its hard to introduce just 1, 2 is better but you cant really have 5 females in the tank space, sorry i dont know what to say apart from get a bigger tank for the females and then add 2 more to level things out. sorry!!!!

This is why I'm hesitant to get another female or 2 b/c I'm not sure there is enough space.. which is why I asked heh.

And if only egtting 1 is recommended.. I can always get the other females out of the tank and put them in all at the same time. Maybe this would help with introducing just 1 more?

Alrighty... I think I've decided that I'm going to get 1 more female.
Unless there are 2 I MUST have for whatever reason... I'm definitely going to just be getting 1 more.
I think once I do get another, I'll take all the other females out, let them look at eachother in seperate cups and then put them all back in at the same time. Hopefully that should reduce aggression towards a new one?

No money for another tank unfortunatly. And although I would like a new tank, I want to wait until we move this year or next year before getting anymore.

While you have all the girls out, try moving the decorations around so that all of the fish will need to find a new territory. If they can just go back to where it used to be you really don't help much by pulling the existing ones out. If its a new setting for all the girls, it will work better even if you only add one.

Update...

Well.. we were at Petsmart today and there were some females I would've loved to have gotten... but I think I'm going to just stick with the 3 I have now. I think the space they have is just right for only 3 gals.
They seem to get along well enough other than the chasing by the dominant one and I'm a bit paranoid about getting another female.
Like what if she's too aggressive or what if the 3 I already have are too aggressive towards her.. etc.
So yeah.. unless things get worse, I'll just be sticking with the 3.
