About a week ago, I reported the departure of the female Oscar in the pub tank due to (what I diagnosed) as being eggbound.......

The male was sulking (obviously), but now.... he is showing the same symptoms and with his "ovipositor" fully extended.... he is also bloating and at times, he darts about.... against ornaments and bogwood in the tank!!.... Is there anything I can do to save him....... I think it might be too late.

Any suggestions considered Urgently!!

why did you remove her? so you didn't have eggs? Also, i read your diary about settin the tank up, but I need my large tank addiction to be kept under control, start a new diary please :p :good:

if i remember rightly she died john :(

try peas, like indigoj says.. i know its a long shot but worth a try
its a bad time for oscars in generall just lately :(

whats his staple diet Ludwig.. tho i think you may have gone for the evening now... i hope he will be ok

clutching at a straw here..you say pub tank...is it in a bar and could anyone have poured alcohol into them???

It is a long story... Yes!... I did not remove her.... she got eggbound and died.... Now, barely a week later.... He is also on his way out. There are still 2 Albino Oscars in the tank.... looking healthy... and a Pleco and 4 male Convicts... All fine..... Nobody has acces (enough) to pour Alcohol in there.

have seen too many weird things in pub tanks when doing maintenance work,lol....have heard of oscars pining when their mate dies but unusual if showing the same symptoms..

ludwig...are you positive its not dropsy or some sort of bacterial infection making them swell?

if he is showing the same signs as she was, id be thinking its an infection of some sort, and would be thinking of treating the whole tank incase the others fall ill next :(

what medications can you get over there?
