Today is tank cleaning day and so i switched king george to the jar and ruby (my two male bettas in seperate places dont worry) to the holding tank while i washed thetank out and changed the water. As i looked closer at ruby though she looked a bit white on her face and both sides behind her gills. I immediatly thought of ich or fungus but i might be paranoid i am just worried! I am heading to walmart now to pick up a fungus tablet just in case image.jpgimage.jpg

I can't see any sign of ich.  It is a bit hard to see her face with the reflection so I can't tell if it is fungus.  Does the area around her face seem fuzzy like cotton?

Don't use medication until you are certain if there is a problem.  Clean water as you were doing is the best thing to do until you are certain something is wrong.

I do not see anything on Ruby that appears to be an issue.  The color on his face seems normal at least from those pics.  I would caution you to not medicate unless you notice something that looks fuzzy, stringy, or like an ulcer.  ICH looks like grains of salt or sugar so your boy definitely does not look like he has ICH.   :)

Don't see any obvious signs of ill health...

No white spots, fins look nice and relaxed (rather than clamped), colouring looks good.

As mentioned, hold off with the fungus tab for now, you can still get it as a precaution, but just don't use it yet. Do your water cleaning and keep an eye on him for any changes.

My betta geta whiter around his face when he gets stressed out like during big water changes. Maybe that's what your seeing.

Yeah that is good advice thanks.

I will see if i can get a better picture i know he has a bit of fin rot.

I always hate going to walmart it just makes me want to get another tank or two.

Today they has better tanks than last time i went and the fish were looking a bit healthier, but the bettas in cups were worse and there were numerous dead fish still sitting in the tanks.

I think he got worse though, i cam home and he was sitting down in one spot on the bottom.. He looked dead so i was going to pick him out with the net and he swam around rapidly, obvoisly distressed at the net. So i left him alone and now i looked back and he is in the same spot, but just now he was swimming around chasing the bubbles on the top, and he just made a bubble nest i see....

The white is COMPLETELY GONE from his face i am so glad to announce, and i am thinking it was just the water change.
