Office Betta

Thanks everyone!!

About the water changes/amintenance, that won't be a problem, luckily I work in an old victorian house, so we have a full kitchen, and the lawyer is very very nice, and seeing as I am her only assistant, I can do pretty much what I want here. She is very laid back. And there aren't many people here during the day, so maintenance will be fine.

Plus I come in every morning at 7:30 to start at 8, so I have the half hour gap.

I am so glad to hear that 2 days is fine for them to be without food. I can't wait to get him!! I am going out I think on Thursday after work to go shopping! YAY!

yeah, when I got my three rescue bettas back in April, they were sent out on the 17th and I didn't get them until the 24th and she said that she hadn't fed them for a day or two before she sent them. They were all fine and they are all still fine now. One of them builds the biggest bubblenests of ALL of my bettas, and trust me, I have more than a few bettas... :D

So a week is more than fine for them to go without food. Cuz mine had the added stress of being completely in the dark and in a very small space (the plastic bags they were in for shipping) and they made it just fine.

:D I left my bettas for 8 days in the summer and they were fine. I did complete water changes a few days before I went away I fed them normally put in real weed for them to play with and that was that. I never feed my fish on a Sunday just because I always thought it is best not to overfeed and they are fine. Uneaten food does more harm than anything else.

:good: :good:

Hi Michelle!! Glad to hear you are getting an office betta! Just to let you know, I don't feed my guy on the weekends. I feed him 2 meals a day Monday to Friday, with a couple of extra pellets or bloodworms on Thursday and Fridays. I do water changes on Friday so that he has "fresh" water over the weekend, and even move him to a room where he has natural light cause I feel bad that when noone is here he would sit in the dark!

He seems to do really well with this. He is always very happy to see me Monday morning, and always has a bubble nest to greet me. He is so cute.

I take him home on the longer weekends, or on my holidays when I don't trust who is left in the office to feed him. I only have one other lawyer in here that I can rely on (she's a pet nut too, the others aren't) If she is gone the same times as I am, I bring him home. He seems to really adjust well to being home too!

Too bad I'm working after work Thursday, I could have met you somewhere!!

I've had my office betta here with me for more than a year and he seems quite content. I never feed him on the weekends (unless I have to come into work  ) and take him back with me if I'm gone for more than 5 days.

That sounds like a really good set up you have, TangerineFizz!!

My office luckily has a window, so he will get his light during the days.

I found out that Thursday usually the pet store in Bolton has their shipment of bettas, so my boyfriend told me he will take me there so i can go shopping. I can't wait to buy everythign right from scratch for him!!and I cleaned my office very well today so i have room for him, and did an hour and a half worth of filling :D :D
